Web-analytics service provider WebSideStory Inc. said Wednesday it will acquire Avivo Corp., a supplier of Web-site search and Web-content-management applications under the "Atomz" name, in a deal valued at about $40 million.
WebSideStory also said that once the acquisition is completed it will combine Avivo's software with its own hosted HBX Web-analytics software to create Active Marketing Suite, an integrated line of on-demand digital marketing applications. This summer, WebSideStory also will add a keyword bid-management application to the suite for managing and measuring pay-per-click keyword campaigns.
WebSideStory will pay $4.3 million in cash and 3.1 million shares of WebSideStory stock for Avivo, bringing the value of the deal to approximately $40 million. The acquisition, expected to be completed in 60 days, has been approved by both companies' boards and requires regulatory approval.
