Linux KDE desktop for Windows
2008-02-05 04:02:00
Geeks forced to work on Windows at their day jobs might enjoy this - assuming a liberal IT department willing to let you mess around with your computer: The open source K Desktop Environment popular with Linux users has now been ported to run on Windows. This might come in handy if you absolutely hate working on Windows but just can’t avoid it or if you just want to have a cooler desktop than your co-workers. KDE for Windows runs on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003 at this point and Vista support is apparently in development. Instructions and downloads are available from the KDE Windows Project website (http://windows.kde.org/) and MrCoPilot (http://mrcopilot.blogspot.com/2008/01/can-kde-save-dying-windows-platform.html) has a number of screenshots and a review.
